Front Cover Inspiration

I used this video as inspiration for my front cover. The genre of this song is Hip-Hop which is the genre my magazine is based on. The status of the artist is type of artist I would like to include in my magazine if I were to do it for real. The styling of the 3 people featured on the track was also used as inspiration for what the model's clothing on my front cover would be like.

Main Coverline Inspiration
This song was a major inspiration while creating the first draft of my magazine. From my mock-up it can be seen that I wanted a main coverline and when making this decision I knew it needed to be something loud, bold and dramatic to grab the reader's attention and make them want to know more.
This song by Hip Hop artist Nas is entitled 'Hip Hop is Dead' and has inspired me so much that I used the title as my main coverline. The reason being it fits the criteria of being bold and dramatic and the fact it came from a well-known Hip Hop artist's song would attract the audience even more as being into the Hip Hop genre, they're likely to be a fan of Nas and therefore recognise this line from his hit song.

Song related to XXL Magazine
After doing some background research into my XXL magazine, I came across this song by Hip-Hop artists Mya and Cassidy who in this song says the line "looking like the cover of a double XXL". This is extremely relevant to my work to do with this magazine and this also highlights the status and popularity of the XXL magazine for it to be featured in a song.
